Commissioning & Notarizing of Documents

Often people will just need a document commissioned, which is a sworn statement made to a commissioner of oaths. As a paralegal we are able to offer this service.

Often people require documents to be notarized, which is that they require a certified copy of an original document. This means the certified copy is the same as the original. As Notaries we also offer this service.

Small Claims Court

Criminal Court

Human Rights Tribunal

Small Claims Court is a court of the Ontario of Superior Court of Justice.  Small claims court matters have a less formal process. It is where parties with civil disputes with amounts up to $50,000, can bring a claim for damages(monies) and/or the return of property valued at $50,000.

Unlike the higher civil court, small claims court process is less complex, and matters are heard much quicker.

We represent individuals that have been charged under the criminal code, where the Crown Prosecutor’s Office has chosen to proceed summarily in Criminal Court.

What is a Paralegal?
A Paralegal is much like a lawyer, as they have been licensed by the Law Society of Ontario to provide legal services in the Province of Ontario. Paralegals are also recognized as officers of the court. However, Paralegals are limited in the areas of law they can provide services for. The main advantage of Paralegals to the public is that Paralegals are just as competent as lawyers in the areas they practice, but

Paralegals fees are 5 to 20 times lower than that of the fees of lawyers

Paralegals fees range from $100/hr to $200/hr an hour, while lawyers fees range from $500/hr to $2,500/hr.
Paralegals are limited to the area of practice for:

· Any matter before a Small Claims Court,

· Any matter heard before a Provincial Offences Court,

· Any summary conviction matter with a maximum penalty of six months in jail before the Ontario Court of Justice – Criminal,

· Any matter before a local, provincial, or federal administrative board, tribunal or commission, except immigration applications.

Paralegals cannot offer legal advice involving family law matters (unless they have a FLSP LSO license) and Wills & Estate law.
